ASHAKA CEMENT COMPANY TO LAUNCH 16 MEGA WATT PLANT
Ashaka Cement Company, a subsidiary of Lafarge Africa Plc will soon launch a 16-megawatt power plant in Nigeria. The power plant will help add more megawatts to the national grid.
According to the Managing Director of Ashaka Cement, Rabiu Abdullah Umar, the plant which costs about 11 million naira; will create more employment, boost operational efficiency and also tackle high energy cost faced by the industry especially in the North East.
The construction of the power plant began in 2017 and its inauguration will take place soon. Umar said the inauguration of the project will be the end to the use of generators for their operations and therefore a reduction in production cost.
Umar also added that the new power plant helps remove the company from the demand for energy. It also means that 16 mega-watts of electricity will become available to people in the region.
The power plant, infrastructure, and cement capacity are all testament of Lafarge’s commitment on investing in Ashaka cement company.
