AU URGES DR CONGO TO DELAY FINAL ELECTION RESULT

The elections that held in Democratic Republic of Congo, the African Union (AU) say there is “serious doubts”. The final results that have been call should be suspended.

One of the opposition candidates, Felix Tshisekedi, the figure that were announces brings victory to him. The other opponent Martin Fayulu of the current administration insists he won.

Martin Fayulu supporters said Felix Tshisekedi made a power sharing deal with outgoing President Joseph Kabila.

The team of Felix Tshisekedi denies the statement.

The heads of state and government of the AU meet in the Ethiopian capital, Addis  Ababa and also release an unclear statement of 30 December vote on Thursday.

“There were serious doubts on the conformity of the provisional results, as proclaimed by the National Independent Electoral Commission, with the votes cast,” it read.

“Therefore, the AU calling for the suspension of the final results of the election been announcing.” If it is confirms, that the election result will create the first orderly transfer of power since DR Congo’s independence from Belgium in 1960.

The electoral commission announces, Felix Tshisekedi had received 38.5% of the vote, compared to 34.7% for Martus Fayulu. Meanwhile, ruling coalition candidate Emmanuel Shadary took 23.8%.

Martus Fayulu files a plea in the Constitutional Court on Saturday demanding a manual recount. The court can confirm Felix Tshisekedi’s victory, by order a recount, or scrap the results altogether and call fresh elections.
