U.S DISTURBED BY THE VIOLENCE IN CAMEROON

  Ongoing violence in Cameroon claims lifes

Civilians and security agents in Anglophone region of Cameroon has been under attack. The United States has showed concern about the ongoing incident.

The U.S Department of States condemned this violence. The ongoing violence has claimed the life of two gendarmes, four civilian, a soldier and worker of the elections body, ELECAM.

The Department of States sent condolences to the respective families.

The Department of States, called the Government of Cameroon to respect the human rights of the Cameroonians deported from Nigeria.

“We also want Cameroon to respect the human rights, including due process, of the 47 Cameroonians returned from Nigerian custody”.

The statement also cautioned the two countries against forcibly deportation of refuge seekers back to their countries of origin.

The statement concluded that “We expect the Government to afford these and other individuals previously detained all the rights and protections enshrined in Cameroon’s constitution, consistent with the nation’s international obligations and commitments.”
