FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS ARE MORE TAX COMPLIANT – LCCI
Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) commends female entrepreneurs for their resilience in tax compliance.
Dr. Mrs Nike Akande, President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during the Chamber’s Women Group’s third annual conference themed, “Women as change agents: Towards tax compliant society,” commended female entrepreneurs for their irrepressible attitude and tenacity in remitting their taxes when due.
She also commended the recognition given to women due to their unique role in poverty reduction and entrepreneurship across the globe, she added that; Nigerian women have remained resilient and dogged in their quest for survival even when placed alongside male counterparts in professions usually designated as ‘men-only’.
Many international development finance organisations like the World Bank, International Labour Organisation, United Nations Women, and even the Central Bank of Nigeria have made impressive efforts at empowering women entrepreneurs in the quest for inclusive and sustainable development.
The World bank recently issued a communiqué calling for closure of gender gaps for women’s access to property, finance and decent work, and they also created the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative, which leverages more than $1bn to help unlock the potential of women entrepreneurs.S
As part of her speech during the conference Dr. Akande urged the Nigerian government to explore available initiatives and deploy needed resources towards the cause of women and children in Nigeria.
