The FIDIC International Infrastructure Conference 

FIDIC, a french acronym for Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils meaning International Federation of Consulting Engineers is an international standards organisation for the consulting engineering & construction profession. Founded in 1913 by France, Belgium and Switzerland in line with forming a global federation of consulting engineers. Today FIDIC membership covers 103 countries of the world.

FIDIC organises the annual International Infrastructure Conference in the furtherance of its goals. This conference is the major international event of the consulting engineering industry. The venue of the International Infrastructure Conference changes continent and region every year to ensure global representation. Conference participants are professionals from the Infrastructure industry such as industry leaders and decision makers.

The 2017 FIDIC Conference taking place from the 1st to the 3rd of October 2017 will provide a platform for stakeholders to evaluate and discuss their understanding of what constitutes resilient infrastructure. In the wake of increasing natural disasters, infrastructure programmes are being implemented in some countries, but without properly understanding resilience. Predicting the effects of climate change is becoming more challenging. To ensure that our design and construction standards are robust enough, the ability to adapt is critical – from planning, design, and implementation, up to the maintenance phase.

Our experience attending the 2016 FIDIC Conference in Morocco was splendid! Lots of fun activities for all including spouses, and a chance to network with engineers across the globe. The discussions were rich, and there was no dull moment!
