GHANA PRESIDENT PERFORMS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY ON AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION

Ghana president performs kumasi international airport second phase construction ceremony.

Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has perform a groundbreaking ceremony for an airport project. The project is the second phase construction of Kumasi International Airport project. Furthermore, the construction of this project will help ensure the growth in domestic airlines. It will also provide a significant way of expanding the domestic and regional routes in the area.

According to report, the project is worth 66.350 million Euros and will be under construction by Messrs Contracta Construction, UK Limited. It will also be increase from 1,981 metres runway to  2,320 metres runway with taxi link. Meanwhile a new Ultra-Modern terminal building will be build to hold a capacity of 1000 people.

The Airport will also have  two new apron parking stands of 17,500 metres square comprising a car park, access road, security fence, substation and provision of bulk utility services.

Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said ”His government will accomplish more development in the aviation industry in the country. He said they will try to convert the airport into an international standard airport.”

The project is part of the government plans to form a multi-modal transport system. This system will include  road, railways, marine as well as air transportations which will help growth the economy of the nation.

Minister of Aviation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah said “The aviation sector has the potential to turn around fortunes. She said it a ”game changer” in promoting the economy to call for both local and international investors.”

The project will help create over 1, 200 direct and indirect jobs in the country. The completion of the project will take 24 months.
