GHANA TO CONSTRUCT 570 DAMS IN THREE NORTHERN REGIONS
Construction of 570 Dams to Improve Agriculture in Ghana
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announce the construction of 570 dams and 15 warehouses in the Ghanaian northern region. The dams are to aid agricultural development. The construction is also in line with the NPP Governments manifesto to improve community-owned and managed small-scale irrigation facilities across the country. The project is also popularly known as “One Village One Dam.”
The aim of this project is to the enhance Ghanaian agriculture, and to create conditions for an all-year-round farming. The president made this announcement while addressing the durbar of chiefs and people of Bunkprugu in the Bunkprugu-Nakpanduri district.
The president commended the chiefs and people of the Bunkprugu area for maintaining peace and unity. He added that the government needs sustained peace to roll out its projects in the area.
He assured the people that the water expansion project for the area would take off and that the engineers would commence work soon. The government plans on improving the living conditions and status of farmers in the area.
