HOW TO TRAVEL ON A BUDGET

You do not need to be extremely rich to travel.

Today we would discuss all the ways you can travel the world for virtually free or on a budget. I recently went on a survey and asked about the number one thing that holds us back from traveling. The near universal answer?  Money. Now you don’t need to be rich to travel and see the world from your very one eyes. You don’t need a lot of money to begin. Even if you don’t earn a lot or have debt, there are ways to go overseas still.

TIPS ON HOW TO TRAVEL MORE

Book flights in advance; Airlines ‘release’ their flight seats up to a year in advance and the closer you get to your departure date, the more the prices increase, especially in the last month. Check fares regularly if you have a specific location for discount or cheapest rates and book in advance. Midweek travel prices are lower compared to weekend flights and you’ll breeze through shorter queues and security at airport check-in. Fly economy too there’s no need to upgrade, no matter how nice Business Class looks. The money you save on cheap seats can be spent on food or accommodation when you arrive.

Stay in hostels / Cheap hotels; There are different kinds of hostels; party hostels, relaxing hostels, exotic hostels and rural hostels. Some of its advantages are that usually they have common areas where people meet, so you may end up finding someone to share transportation, dinner or day trips. It may seem obvious, but SO many hostels/ hotels offer free food. Yeah of course breakfast is often a given.

Don’t eat away your cash; The best way to save money while travelling is to cook all your own meals. You can also find cheap lunches in a supermarket or even a local fresh food market, rather than in an overpriced cafe or restaurant. Aim to wander around before choosing a place to eat dinner if you just pick the first restaurant you see you won’t know if you’re overspending.

Earn while you travel; Instead of spending money on your free time get a job and  save up more for your travels. There are plenty of opportunities in the world as long as you aren’t picky.
