KENYA GOVERNMENT TO GIVE FUNDS TO COUNTIES FOR DEVELOPMENT
Kenya government set to release funds for counties to develop their various areas.
The Kenya government has given the sum of Sh2 billion to counties in the country. The aim of the fund will be use for building, equipping and renovating polytechnics in the area. It will also support county governments in equipping technical and vocational centres.The support will also capture student fees.
According to the Division of Revenue Bill, the additional conditional allocation implemented by the State Department of Vocational and Technical Training. The bill is aims at enhancing access to quality and relevant vocational skills training.
The bill further states that the polytechnics are essential in developing skills of youth who fail to join institutions of higher learning. It will put some counties on the spot for failing to improve these facilities.
In the past, counties have been hesitant to finance it so that is why the bill will be very important. The national government’s contribution is expected to be spread over three financial years.
