NAMIBIA AUTHORITY SATISFY WITH PROGRESS ON COASTAL ROAD

Namibia Authority happy with work on the coastal roads in the nation.

The coastal road which is undergoing upgrade will help connect Swakopmund to Henties Bay in the nation. According to report, the project which will also connect the road behind the famous Dune 7. Meanwhile Dune 7 will be the an alternative road linking Walvis Bay and Swakopmund.

The construction of the road will help ease traffic congestion and Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. It will also provide and an alternative road for heavy duty trucks ferrying cargo to and from the Port of Walvis Bay.

The project currently shows a visible progress according to the contractor. Its report shows that 30 kilometres of the 55 kilometre stretch road of Dune 7 is finish.

Figures indicate that the total project cost of this specific road is about N$900 million. Meanwhile N$780 million has been use for the construction of road connecting Henties Bay and Swakopmund. It has also seen 45% of the project complete with the remaining N$280 million of the project cost already spent.

Chief Executive Officer of Roads Authority, Conrad Lutombi  said “We need to make sure that our roads are up to standard to maximise the function of the port. He also said that “Our focus is to have a balance between new development and preservation of our existing road network.”

The project is scheduled for completion in October next year.
