NATIONWIDE STRIKE BY TUNISIA’S PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS

Tunisian public sector worker immediately request to calls for protest by the President of Tunisian Beji Caid Essebsi . Reaching to the raise of wages from about 670,000 civil servants. The agreement between the sector worker and government were fail as a result of this nationwide strike occurs on Thursday.

Public school, Airport, Public transport and Government offices have been torn off by this pressure, initiated by the Tunisia General Labour Union, UGTT.

Tunisian civil servants and public sector employees have requesting over increase of salary than those anticipated by the government. 20 Euros for 2019 and 30 for 2020 were estimate by the government.

The General Union have accept its demand over rejecting the purchasing power due to the inflation which goes to 7.5% in 2018.

It is not clear, whether their will be any discussion on Wednesday – sometimes, strikes get avert at the last minute.

Tunisia Prime Minister Youssef Chahed further said, that the negotiations should prolong after 24 hour strike. In as much as, both civil service and public companies been affected, according to the union.
