NTCHEU DISTRICT HOSPITAL SET FOR FACILITY UPGRADE BY MALAWI GOVERNMENT
Malawi government set plans for the construction of a new perimeter fence and maternity wing after the fence was destroyed by a suspected electrical fault.
The facility upgrade are the construction of a new perimeter fence and a Maternity Wing at Ntcheu Dho. The construction of the fence is very important because it make the hospital’s environment insecure because it is located along the M1 road.
The development of the project was revealed when the minister visited the hospital after part of the facility’s pharmacy was gutting down by fire due to a suspected electrical fault.
Minister of Health Atupele Muluzi; “As you are aware, the first lady promotes safe motherhood in the country and as a ministry, we will ensure that we work together with her by ensuring that this place is maintained to improve hygiene for expectant mothers,”
According to him, “We will soon start constructing a perimeter fence around the hospital to enhance security for patients as well as hospital equipment.”
Ntcheu District Health Officer, Dr Mike Chisema; “This is a timely project as it is going to tighten security of the hospital plus as management, we need to appreciate that.”
The project is expected to start in February because according to the minister, the resources for the project which include construction materials are ready.
