Marriott International agreed deal with Yamusah group to build Protea Hotel in Accra.
The hospitality sector is at the Heart of Africa’s economy development. The sector is very vital for any developing nation because it creates jobs and also drives social mobility. This is why Marriott International has agreed a deal with Yamusah group to build Protea hotel in Accra.
The hotel will be 1.5km away from the Kotoka International Airport and will have close proximity with key diplomatic, government and commercial areas. Meanwhile, the news of the proposed project has been welcomed by residents.
Yamusah Group President/CEO, Zimbrim Yamusah said ”We are please to partner with Marriott International to bring this project to Ghana. He also said the both brands are a powerful combination that will help position the Hotel and drive Business.”
The Hotel will be a 17-storey building having 200 rooms that offers a restaurant, a lobby bar and a lounge. It will also have a small conference room, a meeting facility, an air crew lounge, a gymnasium and a roof-top pool bar.
Vice President of Protea Hotel by Marriott, Volker Heiden said “Continuing economic growth in Africa is driving the greater investment. He also said that Ghana is proving to be particularly attractive as an investment destination.”
The hotel is in a strategic location which can help to easily accommodate business and leisure travelers coming into the country. It will also help house airline crews and boost business for local communities in the area.
Apart from job creation, hospitality sector helps makes tourist and visitor feel like they are actually in their own country especially European tourists. The construction of the Protea Hotel will kick-off next year with Marriott as the main owner of the hotel.
