REPUBLIC OF CONGO WAIVES VISA REQUIREMENT FOR CENTRAL AFRICA CITIZENS

Republic of Congo announces all citizens of Central Africa can enter Congo without visas.

The Republic of Congo has just announced that there will be no entry visa requirement for citizens of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).

This announcement was made on October 23, in a government communication through the Ministry of the Interior and Decentralization and stated that “all nationals of CEMAC region could enter Congolese territory without visa for any trip not exceeding 90 days.”

The only condition being that the traveler must hold an ordinary biometric passport, a biometric service passport or a valid diplomatic biometric passport.

This announcement came in accordance with the agreement reached in 2013 on freedom of movement in Central Africa.

Countries in the CEMAC bloc are: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Chad.

Equatorial Guinea is the last in the bloc yet to ratify the agreement. Cameroon has a similar waiver but only applies to nationals of Congo, Chad and the Central African Republic.
