RESIDENTS SUFFERING FROM LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE IN MFULENI, SOUTH AFRICA

Residents of Mzamomhle, Mfuleni complaining of lack of infrastructure in the area.

The growing problem facing Africa is simply infrastructure and resident of Mfuleni is currently experiencing it. Resident of the area are unhappy with the constant lack of basic needs. The resident has complain that they are suffering as there is no taps, basic sanitation or electricity.

Currently, there are over 110 families live in Mzamomhle, Mfuleni, as a result of  new RDP houses. Resident was ask to leave the environment due to the propose structure. They move to the resident in 2016 as it was the only place for them to live.

Community leader Sizwe Ncamiso said “Government never told us where we should live after we had to move out. He also said the rubbish collectors say that they can’t give us [rubbish] bags unless we ask the municipality to tell them to give [bags to] us.”

Resident also complain that people living in the new RDP house will refuse to give them water because of fear that the water bills will be too high.

Mayoral Committee Member for Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services; and Energy, Councillor Xanthea Limberg said the city is aware of the informal dwellers.”

According to her, the city had plans to provide basic services for people staying in old informal settlements. She however said that they did not plan for shack dwellers because they are staying on an illegal land.
