Sh80 MILLION TO BE USE FOR ROAD UPGRADE IN KENYA

Baringo County set to invest fund for the upgrading of road in six sub-counties in Kenya.

The upgrading of the road by Baringo County will help increase and improve over 600 km in the six sub-counties. It will also improve existing roads to spur development and tourism.

The project is under the rapid  response initiative which will maintain, grade and gravel the road. It will also targets to enhance 20 kilometres in each of the 30 wards in the region in the next 100 days.

Governor of Baringo County, Stanley Kiptis said “We are using equipment from the county. He also said that we have also hired six excavators, 12 graders and 24 tippers. He also said it will see youth in the area get employment as they target 60 individuals.”

The area has been having challenges with different attack from Armed bandits . According to the governor, the project will boosting security through the opening up of roads in the volatile areas of the region.

Baringo County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Philemon Rono said ”The initiative is categories into five clusters of six wards. He also said that Once work on one cluster is complete, they will proceed to the other wards.”

The poor state of the road has delay the movement of agricultural products for a long time.
