SHURUGWI ROAD REHABILITATION RESUME IN ZIMBABWE

Rehabilitation of road set to resume in Shurugwi town which will help improve the road in the area.

Shurugwi Town Council has kick-off the road rehabilitation which will help fix over a kilometre of its road network. It will also help the town in terms of providing the resident with a good road.

Zimbabwe National Road Administration is funding the project which is worth $145 000. Meanwhile, the project is in a bidding process with a contractor set to be announce soon.

Shurugwi Town Secretary, Solomon Siziba said ”We recently tendered for the road rehabilitation. He also said that the contractor that won the tender is will start next week.”

Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has allocate $350 000 for emergency patching of roads and opening up of drainages. These is due to the damages that occur last year from the rainfall.

The town is one of the fast developing small towns in Zimbabwe. Meanwhile it has an aim to acquire municipal status by 2020.

The major growth of the town is attributed to mining activities in the town, as well as the presence of Anglo American, giant platinum miner Unki Mine.
