SOUTH AFRICAN CIVIL SERVANTS PLANS TO CLOSE BORDERS IN UPCOMING STRIKE
The planned strike by S.A’s civil servant will hit the country where it hurts the most.
South African civil servants will commence a strike next week which might force the country to close its borders. The Public Servants Association (PSA) of South African plans to hit the country where it will hurt the most.
“We are expecting disruption, we are expecting to close down all the border gates of this country,” said Mr Tahir Maepa, a PSA leader.
Hence, the strike will tell on the President who made promise of economic stability as the foundation of his pitch to voters. The countries economy which has been suppressed by unemployment, slow growth and poor investment might not stand this strike.
The Government said its unlawful for PSA to gave 7 days notice instead of 21 days as required by law. The union’s workers were offered wage increases of between 6-7% for 2018, while PSA is holding out for a 12% increase.
Recently increased value added tax, fuel prices and inflation have hurt South African workers financially in recent months.
