Construction of Stiegler gorge water project nears completion which will add 2,100MW to the Tanzania national grid

Tanzania Stiegler gorge water project nears completion. The project which has been under construction for sometime now will  supply clean and safe water to the site. It will also have the capacity to produce 209,000 litres of water per day with two main tank.

Minister for Water and Irrigation, Professor Makame Mbarawa said the move to water in place was among the prior preparations towards the implementation of Stiegler’s Gorge project. He also  paid tribute to the contractor and DAWASA for speedy implementation of the project.”

During his visit, the Minister also said the people coming and staying at the site needs to have different knowledge. This knowledge include  roads, electricity and safe and clean drinking water during the implementing process.

DAWASA CEO Archard Mutalemwa said the contractor was putting up water treatment plant at the area.””

The project will have a pumping station, construction of 1,463 water pipeline of between 1.5 and 3 inches as well as refurbishing two older pumps with 45,000 and 22,500 litres respectively.

Once completion is over, the project will add 2,100MW to the national grid, bringing the total installed capacity to 3,651MW.
