TANZANIA AND KENYA TRADE PROBLEMS RESUMES
Kenyans unhappy with Tanzania’s refusal to sale its product in their country resulting to trade and bilateral issues.
Kenya and Tanzania have being having problem when it comes to trading of goods and services. An agreement between both nations on 24 February 2018 was meant to solve this problem. But the problem have still remained unsolved.
Currently Tanzanian goods are freely getting into Kenya Market while the Tanzanian’s are restricting sales of Kenya’s products in their country. This has become a concern for Kenyans due to the unfair treatment of Tanzanians.
Kenyan citizens are unhappy that Tanzania has literally banned all imports from Kenya, but still want to remain Kenya’s largest importers. Resident are calling for the removal of trade restrictions between both nations.
Both nations have been at odd when it comes to various trade and bilateral issues. Meanwhile, during the agreement in February 2018, there were discussions on different issues relating to this matter. Some of which included multiple charges on levies, lack of preferential treatment, delays at border points and the need for standardized inspection fees.
Tanzania is the second largest market in Kenya after Uganda. The current problem will make it difficult for both nation to work together especially in the business sector. Reactions shows that this problem has not gone down well with most Kenya citizens.
