TANZANIA’s NATURAL GAS PLANT CONSTRUCTION SET TO KICK-OFF IN 2022

Plans are underway for the construction of LNG plant which will bring-in more investors into the nation.

The construction plans for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant will kick-off in 2022. It will be build at Ling’oko village in Lindi after the area was survey.

The project is under negotiation with multinational firms that want to participate in the project. He mention that interested parties should also start making it know before the construction starts in 2022.

Minister of Energy Dr Medard Kalemani said “We met the investors recently and everything is progressing well. He also said multinational firms are competing among themselves regarding which one should lead the project execution.”

Last Week the government had ask for a thorough analysis of the reasons behind a fall in natural gas exploration. Due to the fall, there are rumors that some investors were contemplating to sell their stakes in the country.

In June, Exxonmobil announced that it was seeking buyers for its stake in a large undeveloped gas field off Tanzania. According to them, they want to focus on the development of an even bigger project in neighboring Mozambique.

The company holds a 35 per cent stake in Tanzania’s deep water Block 2 field. It also holds a estimated 23 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas out of Tanzania’s proven reserves of 55.08 Tcf.
