TURKEY TARGETS US$1bn TRADING WITH GHANA BY 2020
Turkey seeks to increase its trading volume with Ghana to a billion dollars by 2020
Ghana-Turkey became Sub-Saharan Africa’s 3rd largest trading partner in 2016 with a trading volume of US$480 million, but the Ambassador of Turkey to Ghana, Nesrin Bayazit, has said that she is targeting to increase this volume to US$1 billion by 2020.
Nesrin believes that with improved commitment and increased collaboration, among the two countries, the US$1 billion target can be achieved.
A Joint Economic Committee between Turkey and Ghana has been established to explore new areas of trade, as well as strengthening existing ties between the countries.
Also there will be a Turkish Business forum in November, organized in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre. The Business forum is aimed at increasing more business activities between the two countries.
The Turkish Government have identified Agriculture, Education, Tourism and Industrialization are areas it intends supporting.
