ACCIONA ENERGIA TO BUILT NEW POWER PLANT IN EGYPT

Acciona energia partner with swicorp to build three identical 50 MW plant in Egypt.

Acciona energia which is a Spanish based company that develops renewable energy projects is to build a three identical photovoltaic plants in Egypt. The company is expected to partner with Saudi Arabia’s Swicorp in a US $180m project that is expected to have a total rated capacity of 150 megawatt.

The project was signed in the present of Egyptian Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, and the Ministers of Electricity & Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, and International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr by the both parners.

The energy generated is expected to be supplied to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) under a long-term purchase and sale contract of 25 years.

The plant is expected to be located 40 kilometers north-west of the city of Aswan and around 15 kilometers west of the River Nile.

The three identical 50 MW (62 MW peak capacity) plants is expected to start construction in  December 2017.
