African nations population to increase in 2100 but is the continent ready for such explosion in population??
Africa is set for a population explosion in 2100, after PEW Research Centre release its report. According to the report, between 2020 and 2100, Africa’s population is expected to increase from 1.3 billion to 4.3 billion.
The projection shows that the increase will come mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, which is expected to more than triple in population by 2100.
The report also shows that by 2100, five of the world’s 10 largest countries are projected to be in Africa. That Six countries are projected to account for more than half the world’s population growth until the end of this century, and five are in Africa.
Is the continent ready for such explosion?
The continent increased population will come at a cost, but are they ready to tackle it; knowing the different challenges due to lack of infrastructural development. This aspect should be carefully considered by every African leaders as we move towards the next century.
Among the African biggest projection are Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Angola. This countries will account for more than half of this increase.
