BAGATELLE WATER TREATMENT PLANT PROJECT ON TRACK IN MAURITIUS

Deputy Prime Minister visit bagatelle water treatment plant that will produce  57 000 m3/day of water when complete.

The construction of the water treatment plant which started in february of last year is on track. The water treatment plant is under construction by the Chinese contractor JV HWPC/First Bureau/HUPD. The project is to help produce 57 000 m3/day of water. It will also  supply portable water at adequate pressure on a 24 hour basis to some 60,000 households in lower Plaine Wilhems and Port Louis.

The water produce will benefits town in the area. The towns are Quatre Bornes, Belle Rose, Ollier, Roche Brunes, Stanley, Mont Roches, Rose Hill, Beau Bassin, etc.

Deputy prime Minister  Ivan Collendavelloo tour of the treatment plant with some officials that are related to the water industry. He said that the aim is to know and take stock of the progress of work done on the project. He also highlighted that some delay occurred with the construction of the treatment plant due to legal proceedings.

The Bagatelle treatment plant once completed will help the La Marie Treatment Plant to supply and reduce the challenges faced as it is the only treatment plant in the area. It will help produce 15 000 m3/day of the 23 000m3/day that the La Marie Treatment plant produce.

The project will help construct different groundbreaking facilities in the country. The ozonation contact tank, flash mixer, flocculators, new rapid gravity sand filters, chlorine contact tank, and clean water tank project.
