CONSTRUCTION OF ISAKA-RUSUMO RAILWAY SET TO KICK-OFF IN TANZANIA

Tanzania government finalise plans for the construction of isaka-rusumo railway project.

Preparation process for the construction of isaka-rusumo railway is finally complete in Tanzania. The railway which will move from Isaka through Kabanga to Rusumo and Kigali in Rwanda. It will also help both nations strengthen its transportation of good and service as well as getting profit from tourists.

Deputy Minister for Works, Transport and Communications Mr Atashasta Nditiye said ”We have sign a contract for the tender preparation in May. He also said that the tender for the railway will be announces this year.”

The Deputy Minister for Works, Transport and Communications was answering a question during a meeting held in the Nation Assembly. It was a meeting organised to find out the progress of work on major projects in the nation.

The government has already kick-off the construction of the standard gauge railway from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro. It will be a Dar es Salaam to Morogoro (202 km) and Morogoro to Makutupora (336 km).

Furthermore, the railway will also include Makutupora – Tabora (294 km), Tabora – Isaka (133 km) and Iaska – Mwanza (254 km) which will complete 1,219km.
