CONSTRUCTION OF KHONJENI ROAD COMMISSIONED IN MALAWI
Malawi’s Minister commission the construction of Khonjeni road but can contractor deliver the project on time?
Road is an essential infrastructural development for every nation in the world. As it connects people to different location which makes it an important asset to the economy. However, every road constructed needs proper maintenance for it to stand the test of time.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, minister of local government and Rural Development Ben Malunga Phiri assured resident to be patient with the construction process. He also said a road construction is a very complex process but it will be done as promised.
Meanwhile, Minister Phiri also said that the pledge of a stadium will also be fulfilled, saying the construction was waiting for the demolishing of houses.
WHY THE PROJECT IS VITAL?
Resident from both Nsanje and Chikwawa districts has suffered for a long time. However, the construction of the road is vital as it will enable both district have a solid road network. It will also give the area development in terms of tourism.
The road project will also go through Senior Chief Kapichi inT/A Mchilamwera’s area. It will connect with the rehabilitation of rail from Limbe to Makhanga, which has always given headaches for the locals.
The events had Thyolo Thava MP Mary Thom Navicha, who is Minister of Gender as well as Traditional Authority (TA) Mchilamwera and his Senior Chief Kapichi. While, Malawi’s Roads Authority board chairperson Brown James Mpinganjira and District Council chairperson, Councillor George Jailos were in attendance.
The project is of great importance to resident but will the contractor meet the deadline for the project?
