CONSTRUCTION OF NEW KAVANGO FISHERIES OFFICE KICK-OFF IN NAMIBIA

Namibia government set to construct a new kavango fishery office that will help increase production and promote agriculture.

The new kavango fishery project is set to kick-off after construction was put on halt in 2012. According to report, the project will receive fund from the government. It also be complete within six or seven months.

Africa Civil Engineering is in charge of constructing the project. Meanwhile the firm will try to cover a lot of ground that has been overdue because of the delay of the project.

Africa Civil Engineering representative, Petrus Kapula said “We have demonstrated our capacity and capability to the ministry to conclude this project. He also said that the project will be complete within six or seven months.”

The previous delay of the project was as a result of issues with the former contractor Executive City Construction cc. It has began construction of the project back in november 2012 before the halt.

MFMR spokesman, De Wet Siluka said “The current phase was to be complete on 07 February 2017. He said that it was part of the agreement between both parties. He also said it was not complete because of various reasons.”

The new building will have an office building, ablution block, workshop building, wash bay and nets drying building. It will also have a fish feed store, boat and trailer store, garages and generator room and a guard house.

When the project is complete, it will as the technical and administrative centre. The centre will promote aquaculture and enhance compliance to inland fisheries legislation.

The project will cost N$16 million.
