CONTRACTOR PULLS OUT OF MBERENGWA-MNENE ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN ZIMBABWE

Mberengwa-mnene road construction on hold after contractors pull out due to cash flow challenges.

Mberengwa-mnene road project is on hold after contractors decide to pull out. The contractors are unhappy with the way the project is been handle and has so far remove all their equipments on site.

The contractor allege that this is due to cash flow challenges. Meanwhile, the Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Engineer Joel Biggie Matiza said they are looking for another contractor.

Minister Engineer Joel Biggie Matiza said The contractor removed equipment on site because he was facing some cash flow challenges. He also said we are currently looking for equipment from other contractors for the project, but work has now resume.”

The problem now facing the project is lack of equipment to continue. According to the minister, It is worth noting that as road construction projects continue to increase, we are likely to reach equipment market shortage.

The government has prioritize at least three roads in each province for the road infrastructure upgrading exercise. This will help ease the movement of goods and services in the area. The cost of the road construction is worth US$19m.
