DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT REOPEN WARRI-BENIN HIGHWAY IN NIGERIA
Warri-Benin Highway reopens but when will the federal government start leading by examples for all Federal road projects.
Government of Delta state in Nigeria has reopen the warri-benin highway. The highway which was close due to the reconstruction of the road project. Meanwhile, the announcement was made by State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
The re-opening of the road has been well received as resident having been facing challenges traveling through the warri-benin route. Speaking to newsmen, Aniagwu thank the contractor for their commitment and sacrifice in ensuring early re-opening of the road.
Charles Aniagwu said ”The Okowa led administration has continued to show concern for the pains road users had to go through on account of the deplorable condition of the road.”
Obakpor J. U. Construction was task with making sure the road was reopen on time. Meanwhile, the state government commends Deltans and other road users for their patience and cooperation while the road remained closed.
WHY IS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NOT INVOLVED?
The warri-benin highway is a federal road but still having challenges. This has made the delta state government to intervene by constructing some portion of the road. According to the Commissioner for Works Chief James Augoye, the work here is not just maintenance or rehabilitation, it requires total reconstruction.
The intervention is aim at helping Deltans and Nigerians who use the road irrespective of where they are from. Because of what they are going through on account of the deplorable condition of the road.
The commissioner for work has also hinted that only 47.8km Section A alone is costing the State Government over N19bn. However, federal government is supposed to take charge and not allow the state spend its revenue as it is a federal road.
