ECOLOGICALLY MINDED VILLAS TO BE BUILT IN SEYCHELLES

Low-impact village to be built in Seychelles to bring the communities together.

Seychelles which is an extensive group of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa is to construct a low-impact community deep in the Seychelles’ mountainous forests of Grand Bois, on the western side of the main island, Mahe.

VIDA which is an internationally recognised company from Costa Rica is the planning ecologically-minded project which was developed by UAE village. The plan started when a group of individual organised a meeting with the public as part of the scoping exercise for the Environment Impact Assessment.

Project Manager, Jamal Al Ghurair Est; ”They will not be visible from the sea as they will be designed to blend into nature and that at the end of all construction phases the residence will be able to accommodate 500 to 600 people including staff.”

The project which was downside because of its close proximity to the Caiman River, a major water source will now have the construction be from 150 metres away from the river and 75 metres away from the only other water source in the region.

Chief Executive of Eco-Sol Consulting, Nimhan Senaratne; “most importantly the residences will be low impact and sustainability conscious houses.”

The low-impact designs will include the use of elevated boardwalks instead of roads, Other facilities to be put in place will be ziplining, canopy walks, viewing platforms and other tree top adventures.

The village which will be built on a 1.8 million square metres land which already have 6% being used for the project while 94 percent will be given back to nature.

The project is expected to bring the communities together by creating and maintaining a public space where there will be nature sights, restaurants, and local farmers selling seasonal vegetables.

The low-impact village is to kick-off in late period of 2018 and will be completed by 2023.
