“Efforts to reconnect the remaining 27 cities and towns to the electric grid is ongoing,” the state-run Utility firm discloses.

The announcement was made on the same day a delegation of senior government officials visited Mekelle city of Tigray region to oversee the implementation of major issues in the peace agreement.

After their trip, the delegation debriefed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed about the visit. The PM “gave instructions to CEOs to further expedite resumption of services,” said Security Advisor to the PM Redwan Hussien said in a tweet today.

Accordingly, Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will resume flights to Mekele as of Wednesday. Ethio Telecom is expected to make a similar announcement as such, says Redwan.
