EGYPT AND SUDAN MINSTERS DISCUSS ELECTRICAL INTERCONNECTION

Egyptian Ambassador in Khartoum Hossam Eissa and Sudanese Minister of Electricity and Energy Mohamed Abdullah met and reviewed underway efforts for electrical interconnection between both countries.

On 23 February 2022, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, headed by Eng. Sabah Mashali began developing and raising the capacity of the first phase of the electrical interconnection line between Egypt and Sudan from 80 MW to 300 MW, at a cost of L.E. 453 million.

The developing works are conducted through the use of the latest devices and modern technologies that enable the service to reach Sudan with the highest quality.

The two sides discussed cooperation proposals for promoting renewable energy projects, especially solar power projects, making use of Egypt’s experience in this domain, the Foreign Ministry posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday.

They also probed technical cooperation opportunities, especially by providing training courses for the Sudanese cadres in the energy and oil industries.
