GAMBIA PRESIDENT LAY FOUNDATION FOR 88KM HAKALANG ROAD CONSTRUCTION
President Barrow has laid the foundation for the construction of hakalang road in Lower Niumi, North Bank Region.
The project is part of the President promise during his recent presidential tour with the people, as CSC Group is in charge of delivering the project.
During the ceremony, President Barrow said the lack of good and adequate infrastructure in the rural area has contributed to the great disparity between the rural and urban settlements.
He noted that the project will increase the agricultural activities such as horticultural product enterprises that include Cashew farming, access to schools, markets, hospitals and fish landing sites.
Quoting President Barrow, “My government has taken the decision to make sure Hakalang is no longer excluded from the national development processes.”
So far, most of the eleven towns and villages along the project road sides have been isolated due to the bad road. Such towns and villages includes, Buniadu, Aljadu, Laman Kerr Cherino, Juffurent, Alberada, Sika, Tubaculong, Sitanuku, Bafuloto, and Kutayah.
Meanwhile, chairman of the CSC Group, Demba Sowe, said they will deliver and successfully accomplish the project work within 26 months.
Currently speaking, Hakalang road is the only lifeline for more than 15 communities in Niumi.
