GSA SHUT DOWN TWO CHINESE PLASTIC PRODUCING COMPANIES

Two Chinese Plastic Producing Companies Close down By Ghana Standard Authority (GSA)

The Management of Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) shut down two plastic producing companies on Thursday 05,2019. These companies are  Zheng Hua Feng Limited and L.W.W Waste Plastics Recycling Company Limited. Reason for the shut down was as a result of operating illegally without an authorize license.

The both Chinese companies are located at Sakaman near Dansoman in Accra, despite the law preventing them from operating at that particular location.

Zheng Hua Feng Limited started operation in 2007 and have produce hundreds of the finished products. Such products include best rubber, long Teng and Eagle.

While  L.W.W Waste Plastics Recycling Company Limited started operation in 2018 but did not have any authorization from GSA despite having the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assessment.

Business Development Officer of GSA, Mr George Anti said ”The exercise toward closing the two companies is not to victimize any company. But to ensure they do what is right.”

According to him, the companies do not have safety rules and operate under unhygienic condition without looking for any alternative for the safety of their worker.

Mr Anti further said that companies operating in Ghana are to blame. This is because they are operating without the requisite document which will make them regularize their activities.

The two companies were issued seven days to address all challenges; so as to undertake genuine business in the country.
