HUAWEI LAUNCHES ICT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR AFRICAN STUDENTS

Huawei, a Chinese Tech company has officially began a program that is aimed at equipping African students with ICT skills.

The program which is part of Huawei’s global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform and also its most heavily invested CSR activity is called “the Seeds for the Future program”.

Last week a set of Kenyan students flew to China for a two weeks language, culture and ICT training. Their program commenced after an opening ceremony was held at  the Embassy of the republic of Kenya in China, and was officiated by the officer in charge of education at the Embassy, Mr Reuben Augut.

While speaking, Mr Augut thanked Huawei for the initiative and also urged the students to implement whatever they will learn back in Kenya.

The language and culture training began at the Beijing Culture and Language University (BCLU), after its completion the students will move to  Huawei University in Shenzhen, where they will receive training on 5G cutting edge technology, Long-Term Evolution (LTE), and cloud computing with a privilege of visiting the state of the art Huawei labs.

The Seeds for the Future program which was initiated by Huawei in 2008, is currently running in  22 countries in Africa, including Kenya and South Africa, and have been implemented  in 96 countries and international organization worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 280 universities.
