THE IMPORTANCE OF THERESA MAY VISITS TO AFRICA

The long awaited visit from UK Prime Minister to Africa is over but the question is what are the benefits. So many people feel that the visit to the three Africa nation is part of plans to expand their relationship. This is due to the propose Brexit from the european union.

The trip include delegation like UK trade minister and minister for Africa, with the aim to strengthen its global partnerships. The visit is to also meet with entrepreneurs to establish trading and export ties in these emerging markets.

According to report, the Brexit has force Theresa May to look for new partnerships and alliances in the Africa Market. The Prime Minister visited South Africa (Aug. 28), Nigeria (Aug. 29), and conclude her visit with Kenya on (Aug. 30). This countries were chosen because they are key members of the Commonwealth.

Uk also plan to invest £4bn in support for African economies and create jobs for young people during the visit to the three African Nations.

In South Africa; 

During her visit in South Africa, She said the UK will partner with South Africa to train the next generation of scientists. She also said they will support the continent’s talented future leaders and decision-makers as they develop their skills and careers at world-class British universities. She also support Cyril Ramaphosa’s stride to attract more investment to South Africa so as to create jobs and economic growth. Meanwhile she said Uk wants British companies to play a central role in helping South Africa achieve its ambitions. She said it will help create and sustain high-quality jobs for the people of both countries. She also wants to work together on international order to see South Africa joining the UN Security Council in 2019.

In Nigeria;

During her visit in Nigeria, she focus on security with the aim of increasing military support. She said they will train and provide equipment to help Nigeria combat the terrorist sect Boko Haram. Meanwhile, she also promise that the Uk will fund US$16 million in school equipment and training for teachers to serve 100,000 children. May also plan for more economic co-operation with Nigeria.

In Kenya;

The Prime Minister visit to Kenya was a remarkable one because it is the first by a British Prime Minister for 30 years. The visit brought memories as it was here that the Queen of England first discovered that she will be Queen. The aim was to see how Uk will work with the country to achieve it’s Big Four (4) agenda to transform Kenya. She said they will aim to make sure the next generation of energetic, ambitious Kenyans can get good, well-paid jobs. This will help them contribute to Kenya’s long-term prosperity. Meanwhile, she announce a new package of funding to support the African Union mission in Somalia. Uk will also set up Twenty new Uk business shop which will help

The visit has been a huge success.
