The construction of an interchange at sentema which is along Kampala – Northern Bypass is at 60%. This was announced by Uganda National Road Authority (UNRA).
According to UNRA, the Sentema is now widened to ensure future free flow of traffic on the Bypass & connecting road. This is after a new design was made to offer additional & improved drainage along Lubigi Swamp.

CHALLENGES FACING THE ROAD PROJECT
The 23km road which is set for completion in 2021 has taken over 17 years to construct. This is a record haul for Uganda’s faltering project, particularly given its length with the cost still yet unknown.
The first phase of the project kick-off in 2004 and was completed in 2009 costing a such of US$32million (USh 118billion). While the second phase which was expanded into four lane highway cost in the range of US$121million (USh 448billion). This figure rose due to several variations in designs which UNRA officials says are a result of some unforeseen circumstances in February 2019.
Meanwhile, the six interchange at Sentema was not in the initial plan but after review deemed it necessary.
