JAPAN TO FUND IMPROVEMENT OF TRAFFIC IN KAMPALA

Govt of Japan and Uganda sign an agreement worth Ushs 2.9 billion for improvement of traffic in Kampala

The Japanese government through its agency responsible for international cooperation has committed to fund the improvement of traffic in Kampala. The Project for the Improvement of Traffic Control in Kampala will see the construction of a traffic control centre, the first of its kind in East Africa. During the signing of the agreement, the finance minister said; the project is important because traffic congestion is costing the nation time and money. It is one of the biggest challenges for a sustainable urban development.

Japan and Uganda have continued to enjoy a good collaboration. Last year, we talked about the Kampala Flyover Construction both countries were exploring to solve traffic congestion in the city.
