KENYA AND JAPAN SET TO FUND RAIL FLYOVER PROJECT
Japan and kenya set to construct a rail flyover in Nairobi.
Construction of a rail flyover will soon kick-off after an agreement between Kenya and Japan. The project will also be use to reduce traffic congestion within city centre and divert traffic from Mombasa Road.
According to report, the project is a build by Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura). Kura is also partner with Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) for the project.
Kura acting director general Silas Kinoti said It will go a long way in expanding the Central Business District. He also said it will give Nairobi city centre landscape a modern look.”
During the beginning stage of the project, feasibility studies, environmental and social impact assessment and ongoing resettlement action plan (RAP) are currently undergoing. JICA are the ones implementing this studies which will see more land been use.
The land discovered is been occupied by Wakulima market but a new alternative site for relocation of the market has been found due to the study carried-out in 2016.
The project is part of the nation 2030 master plan for developing different areas in the country.
