KENYA EXPERIENCE FALL IN INFLATION RATE
Kenya Inflation Rate Drops
Kenya inflation rate has dropped and is already having effect on the nation’s economy. The drop in price was announced by Kenya National Bureau of Statistics. The annual inflation rate dropped from 4.7% in January to 4.14% in February 2019.
Previously, following the statistics, Kenya averaged 9.64 percent in inflation rate from 2005 until 2019. In May 2008, there was a high rate of 31.50 percent and a low record of 3.18 percent in October 2010.
According to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, this is now the lowest inflation rate since August, 2018. The drop is due to the slowdown in prices, particular in the area of food product and a fall of transport index by 0.5 percent.
The fall also reduce the price of petrol and diesel at the pumping stations. Meanwhile, price of maize flour, spinach and tomatoes fell by 30.68 percent, 20.66 percent and 1.70 percent respectively.
The Kenyan government is probably doing something right in managing its economic inflation.
