KENYA’s NMS BEGINS ROAD IMPROVEMENT
Kenya Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) has kick-off it’s plans to start improving the road network in the state capital.
The aim of the project is to develop an efficient non-motorised transport, recarpet roads and improve drainage and streetlights.
NMS Transport, Roads and Public Works director Michael Ochieng said “The journey to change the state of roads in the city centre has begun. We target more than 100 kilometres of non-motorised transport in just one year.”
Ocheing further said the project will improve walking spaces and encourage Nairobi residents to start walking or using bicycles.
According to the plan, the first phase will follows River Nairobi from Donholm to Westlands. While the second phase will joins phase one in the city centre to Lang’ata via Railway city as phase three is from the CBD to Roysambu through Ngara.
