LAMATA COMPLETE IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR RAIL MASS TRANSIT CONSTRUCTION IN NIGERIA
The Lagos State Government, through, the State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA has announced it has completed the impact assessment and studies on the proposed construction of a rail mass transit in the state.
The rail project is aimed at moving more than 750,000 passengers daily as it will be position at strategic location.
Meanwhile stations in Oyingbo, Ebute Metta Junction, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju, and Agbado and three pedestrian bridges at Oyingbo, Ilupeju Bye pass, and Ikeja will be the first phase of the project.
Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, the Deputy Director, Corporate Investment Planning and Head of Safeguard, LAMATA, Obafemi Shitta-Bey, said three studies were conducted to determine the level of support to be provided each community to be impacted by the project.
Such studies conducted are Environmental and Social Management Plan, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, and Resettlement Action Plan.
