LIBERIA 2017 ELECTIONS RESULT DELAYED

The National Elections Commission (NEC) is expected to announce the first official results from the presidential and legislative elections on Thursday.

Liberia 2017 election is an election that has got the world talking about because the country has gone through so many challenges like the civil war in 1943, Ebola epidemic in 2014-15 which has made many countries and people feeling that this election is an important step toward achieving Liberia’s first peaceful transfer of power from one democratically elected head of state to another in decades.

Some 20 candidates were vying to replace the former president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf which was the first Africa female president and currently the Nobel Peace Prize winner . The most popular candidates are Charles Brumskine, the current vice-President Joseph Boakai and the 1996 fifa world player of the year George Weah.

The election which was held on Tuesday 10-October-2017 has not seen a winner been announced because there where some hitches that was observed in some polling unit in the country and for that reason, the national elections commission (NEC) has decided to officially announced the result on Thursday 12-October-2017.

The winner is expected to have 50% of the presidential vote if not then a run-off between the top two contenders will be held on November 7.
