MALAWI GOVT. TO CONSTRUCT BRIDGE AFTER GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY
Malawi Minister of Transport and Public works Ralph Jooma has performed the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a bridge at Phalombe District.
The bridge which will be along Phalombe River is at a construction cost of K99 million.
According to the Minister, the bridge will not only allow people of Mpasa and Likulezi wards to connect with each other but it will also provide them access to important things such as markets for their farm produce at the Boma and at Mkando in Mulanje.
The 30-meter-long bridge was once washed away in 2018 by heavy rains and works is expected to start immediately. Meanwhile, Roads Authority is constructing the bridge as the funds is drawn from fuel levy.
The construction of work is expected to take 120 days.
