NHC START CONSTRUCTION OF 500,000 NEW HOUSES IN KENYA

Kenya’s NHC set to build over 500,00 house as part of its plans for affordable homes.

The construction of 500,000 houses is set to kick-off in Kenya. It is also part of the nation plans to spread housing unit all over the country that is affordable and can help the environment.

The project is also part of NHC’s strategic plan of delivering decent and affordable housing to the public. Meanwhile over 222 unit housing has been unveil to the public as part of the first phase of the project.

NHC Chairman Architect Francis Gitau Mungai said ”The Corporation appreciates that it cannot achieve this on its own. He further said that they will welcome partnerships that can help achieve these numbers.”

The corporation has conclude the revaluation of its assets and is now embarking on getting more projects on the ground across the country. The project currently ongoing are in Mombasa, Kericho, Nyeri, Kakamega, Samburu, Siaya, Machakos, Uasin Gishu and Nairobi etc. It is part of the corporation plans which range from the outright sale to tenant purchase and rentals.

National Housing Corporation (NHC) uses EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) technology to build their various project. It has a factory in  Mlolongo that produces this alternative building material. The use of EPS will enable the project completion to be faster without compromising on quality.
