Nigeria Government announce new national building code that will improve, safe life and property.
Nigeria government has announce a new building code that will regulate every construction. It is also aim at improving and safeguarding the lives and property in the country. The news was announce in Abuja while inaugurating members of the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said “We have come up with the new code due to the different challenges. He said the government is aware of the fact. He also said that most deaths and injuries happen during building collapse due to unacceptable ways of building.
The council set up will determine the standard of educational qualification of members. It will also regulate the activities of architects in the building and construction industry.
The minister urge the new members to consider their appointment as a call to national service. According to the minister, the house will be build in a way that public safety cannot be compromised.
The project has become an imperative for the government to solve the growing crisis in the building sector. It is a deliberate measure to check the avoidable loss of life and property with the new code.
