NIGERIA GOVERNMENT APPROVES CONSTRUCTION OF NEW UNIVERSITY BUILDING
FEC approve construction of new facility of art building at Adamawa State University.
Nigeria Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approve the construction of a new university building. The new building facility will be at Adamawa State University, Mubi town in the state.
The approval was announced by Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu during the Federal Executive Council meeting. Meanwhile, the construction cost of the project is worth N613,395,650 with the aim of the building been used for the Faculty of Arts.
The project will be undertaken by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) with Spectrum engineering getting the contract for the project. Also, during the meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, Adamu Adamu said they have adopted the Safe Schools Declaration.
The safe school declaration is an inter-governmental political commitment by governments. It was recommended for endorsement by all countries at an international conference held in Oslo, Norway, on May 28, 2015.
The safe school declaration is like a guideline and Nigeria is now committed to implementing it. This initiative provides countries the opportunity to express support for protecting education from attack during times of armed conflict. It also focus on the continuation of education during war and the implementation of concrete measures to deter the military use of schools.
