The Airport was close on Saturday following an incident involving an Air Peace flight with registration number 5N BRN, from Abuja to Port Harcourt.

The Aircraft was pull-out of its obstructing position at 1508 hrs on Sunday. Meanwhile, after inspection from engineers, the Airspace was declare safe and open for flight operation at 1755 hrs same day.

Lufthansa Airlines had to cancel their flight that Saturday after the near plane crash. There were already worries that the airline might cancel its Monday flight to the city, but with the re-opening of the runway, the flight to Port Harcourt would continue.
