PRESIDENT MAGUFULI UNHAPPY WITH SLOW TRADE IMPLEMENTATION BETWEEN MALAWI
Tanzania President call for more improvement in the implementation of trade agreement with Malawi.
Tanzania President John Magufuli is unhappy with the slow implementation of the trade agreement with Malawi. During a two-day visit to Malawi, He called for the speedy implementation of the agreement.
He cited the construction of the one-stop border post at Songwe-Kasumulu as very slow. The construction is under the Memorandum of Understanding signed way back in 2015.
President Magufuli said “There is a need to redouble our effort to boost trade. There is need to improve border area as well as improving efficiency of the border post.”

During the meet, both government reaffirm the need to boost trade ties between the two countries. They also talked about a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues.
At the end of the discussion, both leaders witnessed the signing of two bilateral instruments namely, the bilateral road transport Agreement and the MoU in culture, Art and Sport.
The both President are expected to tour the Lilongwe Auction Floors on today where they will jointly officially open the 2019 Malawi Tobacco Marketing Session.
